A collection of the research projects I have completed throughout my college experience.

This community assessment project strengthened my understanding of how comprehensive data collection informs effective public health interventions. Gathering community demographics, conducting a literature review, and completing a windshield survey allowed me to connect existing evidence with real-world observations. Speaking with a key informant added valuable context that highlighted community strengths, challenges, and lived experiences not always captured in the literature. Identifying a priority health problem emphasized the importance of using both qualitative and quantitative data to guide decision-making. Developing an education plan that accounted for barriers and varying health literacy levels reinforced the role of nurses in delivering accessible, equitable, and community-centered care.

This evidence-based practice paper deepened my understanding of how structured research can directly inform and improve nursing practice, particularly in maternal–child health. Conducting a comprehensive literature review reinforced the strength of evidence supporting continuous breastfeeding education across the prenatal and postpartum periods and highlighted gaps in current standard practice. Critically appraising multiple high-level studies strengthened my ability to evaluate research quality, recognize limitations, and synthesize findings into meaningful clinical recommendations. Developing a feasible implementation plan emphasized the nurse’s role in translating evidence into practice while considering real-world constraints such as time, resources, and staff education. Overall, this project enhanced my confidence in using evidence-based frameworks to advocate for practice changes that promote equitable, patient-centered outcomes for mothers and infants.
